The holidays are all about giving, right? Well, I can’t think of a better way to jump start your holiday spirit than participating in “Trees for Troops”. Kersey Valley Farms near High Point and Archdale, North Carolina is part of a special program whereby a family or a corporate group can purchase a premium Fraser Fir Christmas tree and send it as an expression of appreciation to our military personnel and their families. Here’s how the program works…

You buy the tree, fill out a custom made Christmas card that includes your contact information along with a note to the military family. FedEx will ship the tree to the specified military base in the United States or anywhere in the world — FREE!

And get this…

Once the family receives your Christmas tree, the card has a return postcard at the bottom half so they can easily send a note of thanks back to you.

Last year the Christmas Spirit Foundation, sponsors of the “Trees for Troops” program, reported that nearly 17,000 REAL Christmas trees were delivered to military families at 35 bases here and around the world. They hope to exceed that number this year.

You can participate by going to Kersey Valley Farms near High Point and Archdale. Their Christmas season Grand Opening is November 28 at 9 a.m.

According to owner, Tony Wohlgemuth, this year Kersey Valley Farms is introducing a new “Family Tradition” in the Triad for Christmas, a low cost family fun experience in picking out the perfect Christmas tree. The farm will have thousands of fresh cut Fraser Fir Trees and Wreaths for sale along with the snacks of the season like apple cider, hot chocolate, caramel kettle corn, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, and even marsh mellow roasters in the picnic area.

The farm will be lit up in winter white lights themed to music and hayrides around the farm. Tony reports that the popular Gem Dig will be open with heated water for the families to enjoy as well.  “We are the exclusive retailer of the Rosser Family Christmas Tree Farm,” says Tony. “All the Rosser’s Christmas trees are premium Fraser Firs. This means all of our trees are only the best, no second quality trees.” Rosser trees started as seedlings on the couple’s North Carolina mountain farm and have been personally nurtured by Marty and John using the latest horticultural innovations to produce lush, fragrant, and environmentally friendly trees with needles that stay on longer. You can do no better. And believe me, military men and women far from home this Christmas will appreciate the gesture of a fresh tree more than you know. I remember sitting with my unit on a hill in Vietnam passing around and sniffing a bean bag filled with pine needles sent by a buddy’s family in Oregon. It somehow connected us to home and family — and happy memories.
