If you’re looking for something interesting to do that you might not have considered, I suggest taking in High Point, North Carolina’s excellent High Point Museum. The upcoming big event is the museum’s 25th Annual Holiday Open House on December 7. Right now the current featured exhibit is Growing Seasons: An American Farm Family at the Beginning of the Twentieth Century. OK. I did it. I felt I owed it to our NC Travel Guide Blog readers. My wife and I went to Spookywoods at Kersey Valley Farms, the award-wining haunted attraction near High Point and ArchdaleNorth Carolina. The owner, Tony Wohlgemuth, was there to greet us. Great guy. He has created a spectacular special effects extravaganza that places his spellbinding haunted venue in the top ten in the entire country. And now I know why. Take your kids and go — not the young ones, however. It’s intense. But fun. The costumes and Hollywood-style makeup are well done. This alone is worth the price of admission. Tony and his band of spookmeisters have created an elaborate 55 acre setting replete with creepy old outbuildings, dark foreboding woods, and a dizzy haunted maze filled at every turn with lifelike ghouls, creatures and demented freaks. Yike.

And that’s not all. Be sure to catch Jonathan Frost’s highly entertaining Magic Show. Don’t miss the razor blade ingestion trick.
